What's an underlying medical condition?
If you’re 18 or older you’re more at risk of getting very sick, having to go to the hospital or even dying from COVID-19 if you have an underlying medical condition like:
Chronic kidney disease
Chronic liver disease
Chronic lung disease, including COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, cystic fibrosis, and pulmonary hypertension
Dementia or other neurological conditions
Diabetes, types 1 and 2
Intellectual or developmental disabilities
Mental health conditions
Overweight or obesity
Sickle cell anemia
Smokers, current or former
Solid organ or blood stem cell transplant
Substance use disorder
Weakened immune systems
